Munster's attempt to sign Wallabies captain Stephen Moore has been blocked by the IRFU, according to reports.

The 42 are reporting that Moore was very keen on the deal and the Brumbies were receptive to Munster's advances but the deal will not go through.

Moore would have been allowed to move after the 2016 Super 14 season.

Mike Sherry and Duncan Casey both came off with injuries in the win over Treviso, with Ireland international Sherry suffering a fresh knee injury and Casey a chest injury.

Niall Scannell and Kevin O'Byrne will provide cover in the crucial position in the coming weeks.

The crisis has illustrated the need for cover in the front row role but IRFU performance directoer David Nucifora, who must rubberstamp all transfer deals involving Irish provinces, has vetoed the move, according to the report.
