Ireland gripped by emotion as radio stations simultaneously play the Fields of Athenry to remember Anthony Foley
Ireland's radio stations joined as one today to pay a brilliant tribute to the late Anthony Foley.
Just after 12 noon, radio stations around the country played The Fields of Athenry to remember Axel, who sadly passed away just hours before his Munster team were due to play Racing in the Champions Cup in Paris last weekend.
10 radio stations in Munster originally announced that they would air the poignant song with stations across the country then joining in to pay a beautiful tribute to Foley.
A deeply emotional and somber violin rendition of the Munster battle cry 'Stand Up And Fight' was played ahead of the funeral of Foley at St Flannan's Church in Killaloe today as thousand turned out to say their farewells.
