Honours even in Colaiste naToirbhirte's try-fest debut

Colaiste na Toirbhirte Bandon all girls school recently played their first contact rugby game against Colaiste Pobal Bantry in Bandon.

A great running game of rugby resulted in six tries scored, finishing up honours even with three tries all.

The fixture was part of a rugby programme being facilitated in the schools by Munster community rugby officer Eugene McCarthy and Bantry Bay's community rugby officer Damien Hicks.

Both participating schools are going forward to take part in the IRFU/Munster Rugby School Sevens competition for U-18 girls commencing next week.

Meanwhile, over 100 primary school pupils attended a rugby blitz at Dunmanway RFC completing their five week 'Play Rugby' programme.

Boys and girls attending St. Mary's Girls, The Model School, Ballinacarriga, Togher and Derrinacahara took part in the programme designed to introduce rugby to children in a fun environment.
