Tomorrow evening Cashel RFC supporters will witness a special day at Thomond Park Stadium when their U-12 girls take to the field.

The amalgamated Cashel and Fethard U-12 girls' side will take to the pitch for the mini rugby half-time display during the Newport Gwent Dragons Guinness Pro12 fixture.

Not only will the newly established girls' team take to the pitch, but there will also be a unique moment when MAR referee Wendy Fitzpatrick - in her second year of refereeing- will officiate both her daughter, Grace Fitzpatrick Ryan, and her niece, Ciara Fitzpatrick.

Wendy Fitzpatrick is a particularly active member at Cashel RFC not only as a referee, but also a player.

She also manages the Cashel senior women's side who are currently top of their league.

Grace and Ciara have been playing in Cashel for a number of years alongside the boys but fortunately this season they now have the opportunity to play with in an all-girls team.

They hope to go on to represent their club throughout the age grades as Cashel set out to expand girls rugby with players eventually feeding into their senior side.
