Munster have today confirmed that they have signed South African centre Jaco Taute to a contract extension and that All Black Francis Saili will leave the province at the end of the season.

It was always going to come down to a straight choice between the two non-Irish qualified centres and Munster Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus has opted for his compatriot Taute, who has enjoyed a stellar season.

The province also confirmed that Donnacha Ryan will depart for Racing 92, which likely ends the lock's international career. Munster have also extended the contract of out-half Ian Keatley, who had been tipped to leave for France also.

Prop Peter McCabe and second row John Madigan will also leave the province at the end of the current campaign along with centre Cian Bohane and Australian lock Mark Chisholm, who are set to retire.

“With Ian and Jaco we are retaining the services of two quality players," Erasmus said in a statement.

"Both highly experienced and versatile, they not only add value on field but are also good guys to have in our environment.”
