Garryowen host UL Bohemians in the massive Limerick derby in an Ulster Bank League Division 1B promotion play-off at Dooradoyle tomorrow.

It has been a season of contrasting fortunes for these two teams, and despite flirting with the top four slots in the top tier earlier in the campaign, Garryowen slumped into the relegation zone in the closing rounds of the regular season.

They finished ninth, second from bottom in Division 1A just one point behind Terenure College. But last weekend they put their poor recent form behind them to secure a comprehensive 41-19 victory over Old Wesley at Dooradoyle.

Now they face an in-form UL Bohemians team who were one of the sides that remained competitive with Buccaneers in Division 1B until the latter stages of the season.

Buccaneers eventually pulled away, but UL Bohs still secured third-place finish, and recorded a brilliant 19-17 semi-final victory away to Naas at Forenaughts last weekend.

There is another big Munster derby in the Division 2A promotion play-off where Dolphin and Nenagh Ormond clash, with the winners playing their rugby in the second tier next season.

Dolphin had a miserable campaign and finished ninth in Division 1B, just six points clear of basement side Galwegians.

But they won 20-8 at Irish Independent Park last weekend and will be boosted by that victory over Malone as they head into this one.

In the third tier, Nenagh Ormond won 11 of their 18 games and finished eight points off winners Banbridge.

In the play-off semi-final they beat Munster rivals Highfield 13-9 at Woodleigh Park.
