Munster confirm O’Connell will see specialist in New Year
IRELAND and Munster lock Paul O’Connell will again see a specialist in the New Year as concerns mount about a lower back injury.
The inspirational forward has been sidelined for the past two months with the injury.
He last played in the round two Heineken Cup game against Edinburgh at Thomond Park, and will certainly take no part in next weekend’s crunch return clash with Saracens.
There have been suggestions that the secondrow would have to have surgery for the injury but his club moved to clarify the situation today.
“Paul O'Connell is undergoing treatment for a lower back complaint,” Munster said in a short statement.
“His treatment is progressing satisfactorily. He will see a specialist for further review in the new year”.
