McEntee's men stroll into semi-finals
LEINSTER 'A' 32 PONTYPRIDD 0
British and Irish Cup
Colin McEntee's Leinster took their place in the semi-finals for the first time in the third year of this competition with an easy win at Donnybrook yesterday.
They got off to a great start when fly-half Noel Reid struck two excellent penalties before he popped the ball off to Conor Gilsenan at his shoulder for a swerving finish past full-back Harley Thomson from 20 metres. Reid's conversion took Leinster 13 points clear in the12th minute.
Gilsenan received a yellow card following an incident with replacement scrum-half Garyn Lucas on 25 minutes. However, Reid then cut loose for Brendan Macken to power over out wide. Reid converted from the left touchline.
There was no way back for the limited Welsh club. Centre Macken intercepted neatly to take the ball home from his own 22-metre line. Reid kicked the extras. Then, prop Jack McGrath's fast hands put wing Darren Hudson in for try number four in the 70th minute as Leinster never had to move out of second gear.
