Lyon rugby player suffers gruesome lip injury

Published 19/01/2014 | 11:59

Leinster’s Mike McCarthy was in the wars in the Heineken Cup this weekend, and so too was Lachie Munro in the less glamorous environment of the Pro D2.

Lachie Munro might not be a household name, but the gruesome lip injury he suffered while playing for Lyon in the second tier of French rugby yesterday has seen his name do the rounds on social media.

Lyon currently top the table having lost just three games all season and look in good shape to make a return to the Top 14, which may be of some consolation to Munro this morning.

It follows on from a bloodied McCarthy leaving the RDS pitch on Friday night after being on the receiving end of a number of Osprey boots, resulting in a red card for Ian Evans.
