WARREN GATLAND has welcomed the return to competitive action of Irish stars Brian O'Driscoll and Rob Kearney.
The Lions coach expressed his pleasure at seeing two potential players for the Lions tour to Australia back in harness with their club.
"Given the high attrition and injury rate of the modern game, it is pleasing to see two quality, seasoned and experienced internationals return to playing," said Gatland.
Injuries will certainly have a bearing on Gatland's final selection for the tour Down Under during the summer.
As Kearney and O'Driscoll are, at their best, potential Test players, Gatland will surely be anxious they remain in the fullness of health between now and the Tour departure date at the end of May.
"There is no doubt that between now and the Lions tour a significant number of players will pick up injuries," he added.
