With interest in rugby at a high due to Ireland's participation in the recent Six Nations, over 80 U-18 girls came out to the rugby club to show their own skills and pace.

The four schools that attended were St Finians College, Loreto College, Athlone Community College and Wilson's Hospital. Two other schools had to decline due to the oral Irish exams being held presently.

Each team had three 20-minute games and so got to play each other once. The scores came thick and fast as the quality of rugby on show was of a very high standard.

No scores were kept as the day was about enjoyment and participation.

However this did not blunt the competitive edge of the girls.

The day ended with a small treat for all the participants.

A good day was had by all and considering the success of the day there will be many more to come.

Thanks to Claire O'Brien, Adrienne Andrews and Barry Coade for their help on the day.
