Arklow RFC U-12s made the short trip to Gorey Rugby Club on Saturday to complete in the final Leinster Blitz of the season.

The event had 18 teams competing with a visiting side from Ulster, Banbridge RFC, in attendance for their end-of-season tour. Arklow were drawn to play in the pool with Enniscorthy, Wexford and Banbridge.

The weather was perfect for rugby with some outstanding play on display throughout the whole day.

Arklow's first match was against Enniscorthy Falcons which was a very quick game, great movement and strong tackling with Arklow coming out on top 3-1.

Our second game was against Wexford Wanderers who travelled with great numbers and proved to be too strong on the day but again some great tackling, team work and attitude ensured Arklow put up a good show right till the final whistle.

The final game was against the travelling Ulster side, Banbridge, which could have gone either way and this game had it all.

End-to-end action, overlapping runs, last-gasp try-saving tackles and in the end the spoils were shared at six tries each.

The most important aspect is that all the children had great fun on the day as we finish out our U-12 season and prepare for the challenge of 15-a-side and conversion kicks next season.
