Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has said that the prospect of taking on two South African teams in the revamped PRO14 is a 'hugely exciting challenge'.

Today it was confirmed that the Cheetahs and the Kings will join what was the PRO 12 to form a new, expanded league, which will be split into two conferences of seven.

The Port Elizabeth-based Kings are in Leinster's conference, which means Cullen's men will travel to South Africa at least once during the 2017/18 season.

Speaking to Leinster Rugby this afternoon, the head coach was very positive about the new additions to the league.

"We are unbelievably excited by it," Cullen said.

"Great challenge. We have followed the two teams with great interest over the last few weeks as we had an idea that this was coming down the line. There are going to be a lot of challenges, even trying to get up to speed with the competition, the two conferences. Overall though, it is a hugely exciting challenge."
