With the continuing good weather Mullingar Rugby Club hosted a secondary schoolgirls blitz run by local CCRO David Farrelly.

With interest in rugby at fever pitch, over 80 U-18 girls came out to the club to show their skills and pace.

The four schools that attended were St Finians College, Loreto College, Mullingar Community College and Wilson's Hospital.

Each team had three 20-minute games and so got to play each other once. The scores came thick and fast as the quality of rugby on show was of a very high standard.

No scores were kept as the day was about enjoyment and participation.

However this did not blunt the edge of the competitiveness.

A good day was had by all and considering the success of the day there will be many more to come.

Thanks to Johnny Butler, Donal Liddy, Claire O Brien, Adrienne Andrews and Andy Yeoman for their help on the day.
