Ashbourne RFC minis have just returned from their end of season tour, which included a visit to Alton Towers followed by games against Ruthin and Llandudno in the Welsh valleys.

  • Go To

A party of over 150 fathers, mothers and sons set off and what's more they all survived and had a great time.

They are now looking forward to welcoming U-9 and U-12 squads from clubs across all four provinces and further afield for the second Ashbourne Mini Rugby Festival and Campout supported by Tayto Park.

The games will be played on the four fantastic pitches at Milltown House.

After the success of last year's inaugural event many clubs who attended have already registered teams to return for the fun event which will take place on the weekend of September 24-25.

Visiting teams will arrive from early afternoon on the Saturday and first up there will be plenty of rugby played into the early evening followed by the pitching of tents with the assistance of the local scout troops, dinner, team building activities and music and fun until lights out.

After a good night's rest the players, their coaches and parents will be able to enjoy a cooked breakfast before heading off to the nearby Tayto Park.

If your club would like to register some teams to participate at either or both age levels in what promises to be a great rugby weekend further event details, briefing and costs are available on the Ashbourne RFC Facebook page and at www.ashbournerugby.ie or simply email ashbournerfcminis@gmail.com to request.

Friendships

It is a great way for players to get back together with their teammates after the summer break, in addition the lads create friendships and rivalries with other clubs that they will enjoy throughout their rugby career.

What better way to kick off an enjoyable 2016/17 season.

Ashbourne RFC looks forward to welcoming you and early registration is advised.
