Rising Leinster star Dooley an inspiration to Birr youngsters on return to old stomping ground

Birr RFC mini rugby has been going from strength to strength, with the numbers of boys and girls playing increasing on an ongoing basis.
Every Sunday morning in all weather conditions, under mini co-ordinator Laura Guinan, training for boys and girls from U-8s to U-12s takes place.
Here they learn the basic skills of the game but most of all make new friends and have fun - the hot chocolate and marshmallows after training also go down a treat!
On a regular basis each mini team participates in blitzes with various local clubs.
Recently our U-12s played at half-time during the Leinster v Wasps Champions Cup game.
The panel had a great day out in the RDS, showing great skill during the half-time game and really enjoyed meeting some of the Leinster players on the day.
There was great excitement recently when Leinster academy prop Peter Dooley paid a visit to training.
Mini rugby training at the weekend in Birr was where it all began for Peter -he was coached by his dad right up along during mini and youth level and then progressed through the Leinster development pathway system to gain a place in the Leinster Academy.
Peter gave all the young boys and girls tips and advice and told them all to keep practising and always listen to your coaches, but most of all to enjoy playing.
Peter is a prime example of the club development pathway that exists within Leinster Rugby and shows that there is a pathway for success within the club system if the player is eager enough to succeed - and this is something that all club players should take note of.
Birr RFC are always looking for new mini rugby players, training takes place every Sunday morning.
