If the amount of mud covering these first-time rugby players is an indication of how much fun they had, then these boys and girls certainly had a whale of a time!

These are pupils from Ramsgrange Community College in New Ross where every Thursday Nick Murphy, the CCRO for New Ross Rugby Club, calls down and leads a training session.

The school itself does not have a rugby playing tradition so it's a target area for the Leinster Rugby Community and Schools Programme.

Thanks to Avril Buttle the PE teacher in the school for her help and support with spreading the rugby gospel.

Through all that mud who knows what future stars might emerge playing for New Ross Rugby Club or running on to the pitch playing for Leinster.

Either way one thing is for certain, the conditions certainly won't bother them!
