It was a tough weekend for Leinster and Ireland star Ian Madigan.
He made up for a second half penalty miss by landing a monster kick to force extra time but the 26-year-old threw an intercept try in he first half of extra-time allowing Bryan Habana to streak clear for a try.
Thanks for the incredible support here and in France. Gutted with my obvious mistake and the result. @OLSCRugby— Ian madigan (@Ian_madigan) April 20, 2015
He was replaced by Gordon D'Arcy at half time in extra time and cut a forlorn figure on the sideline as Leinster's attempted comeback fell agonisingly short.
He wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for the incredible support here and in France. Gutted with my obvious mistake and the result. ."
Leinster fans, proud of the performance in the 25-20 defeat, rallied around Madigan on social media.
Hey @Ian_madigan, no mistake at all. Better to lose while trying than go without pushing.Keep trying those passes, back yourself every time.— Killian Byrne (@killianbyrne) April 21, 2015
