Dubai visitors enjoy Wicklow hospitality
Wicklow Rugby's U-12s extended a warm Irish welcome to the Dubai Hurricanes who arrived in Ashtown Lane, Wicklow on Sunday morning to play the second fixture of their busy week-long Irish rugby tour.
Fielding three teams each, Wicklow and the Dubai Hurricanes played highly entertaining, competitive and fast 10-a-side matches.
With heavy rain underfoot, the tourists relished the conditions and played high tempo games cheered on by a large group of travelling supporters and parents.
The clubs finished off the morning's rugby by playing 15-a-side matches which was a first for both groups of players in anticipation of Youth Rugby next season, with the Hurricanes narrowly winning both matches before enjoying the traditional Wicklow hospitality afterwards.
This was the first international match for Wicklow U-12s. Dubai also played Balbriggan, Skerries and Clontarf and Willow Park School during their visit.
April is a busy month for the Wicklow U-12s as they prepare to welcome back Spanish club Liceo Francés de Madrid, for a full schedule of matches.
They will finish their season with a Munster tour on the weekend of April 22 to mark the end of Minis Rugby for these fine young players, with games against Midleton, Old Christians, Clanwilliam and Clonmel.
