Cronin doubles up at end-of-season awards

The Leinster Rugby Awards Ball took place last Saturday evening at the Double Tree by Hilton in front of over 500 attendees as the province celebrated the achievements of those both on and off the field in both the domestic and the professional game.
RTÉ's Darragh Maloney was MC for the evening as the players and coaches also celebrated the careers of stalwarts Gordon D'Arcy and Shane Jennings, while saying goodbye to Jimmy Gopperth, Sam Coghlan Murray, Ben Marshall and Sean McCarthy.
St Mary's, Leinster, Ireland and Lions back Johnny Moloney was inducted into the Hall of Fame and former Leinster and Ireland prop and Grand Slam winning captain Fiona Coghlan received the Life Style Sports Special Merit Award.
Cistercian College Roscrea were awarded the Beauchamps Solicitors School of the Year award after winning the Leinster Schools Senior Cup for the first time.
Scoil Chonglais from Baltinglass were awarded the Irish Independent Development School of the Year, having won the Junior Development Cup.
The winners from the club scene included AIL Division 2A champions Old Wesley (Canterbury Senior Club of the Year), Ashbourne (BDO Junior Club of the Year) and Dundalk (On Field Achievement Award, having achieved senior status for the first time.
Anne McInerney was posthumously awarded the RiverRock Outstanding Contribution to Leinster Rugby award. Anne was schools administrator for 15 years until her retirement last year. She sadly passed away after a short illness earlier this year.
Jack Conan was awarded the Samsung Galaxy S6 Young Player of the Year from a shortlist that included Tadhg Furlong and Luke McGrath.
Sean Cronin was awarded the Bank of Ireland Players' Player of the Year Award ahead of Jamie Heaslip, Devin Toner and Luke Fitzgerald - he also got the Irish Independent Try of the Year.
Head coach Matt O'Connor said: "Both players have had excellent seasons. Their impact on the field is quite telling in terms of minutes played and their impact on the games that they featured in.
"But for me, what they do away from the paddock has left a lasting impression. "
