Over 100 students from the school took part in the full contact 15-a-side blitz which has become a highlight of the school calendar.

Preparation for the event goes on throughout the year with each class from the second year entering a team. Each class then goes through six weeks of training throughout the year to prepare themselves for the competition. Leinster and Barnhall CCRO Gareth Murray oversees the training along with PE teachers Mr McGovern and Mr Cryne to ensure the boys are fully prepared for what is for most their first ever rugby competition/experience.

The day itself saw some absolutely brilliant rugby being played with five classes battling it out to be crowned champs! Each team with a squad of over 20 contributed in the day being a massive success.

The group stages saw a mixture of results but eventually Bosco2 and Patrick2 emerged as finalists and the final didn't disappoint. With two minutes to go and trailing by two points Bosco2 moved the ball wide and scored the tournament-winning try.

Only part of the story was told in victory though as all students brought home with them an experience and skills they will never forget. Indeed most students are already looking for when and where they can get their next taste of rugby, and NUIM Barnhall RFC are more than willing to accommodate.
