COLEMAN Kennedy nailed a last-gasp winning penalty for Rockwell College at Clanwilliam yesterday as the Tipperary outfit captured the Bowen Shield for the first time since 1998.
Kennedy's ice-cool effort was the final kick of the game, and ended a long drought for Rockwell, who had Ireland's Denis Leamy in their ranks when they last won this competition.
Rockwell captain Sonny Dwyer scored a first-half try and Kennedy's two penalties, one in each half, proved crucial. CBC responded with a Patrick Leahy and penalty from Ryan Foley, but yellow cards for Foley and front-row Jack Corbett were costly.
