THE Irish women's rugby team have created history by winning their first ever triple crown with victory over Scotland today and remain on course for the Grand Slam.
The 30-3 win over Scotland at Lassdale also ensured Ireland qualified for the 2014 World Cup.
Niamh Briggs 23rd minute penalty had Ireland level at 3-3 and Alison Miller finished off a fine team move to touch down in the corner to give Ireland a 8-3 half-time lead.
Scotland were beginning to pile on the pressure but when Scottish out-half Tanya Griffith was sinbinned for repeat infringements the momentum swung in Ireland's favour with Briggs landing the subsequent penalty.
Miller and Siobhan Fleming added tries with Scotland down to 14 players.
Briggs capped a fine display by adding a try of her own late on to secure a famous win for Phillip Doyle's side.
