Jane takes on big boys in bid to prove fitness

IN order to prove his fitness to coach Graham Henry, New Zealand winger Cory Jane did what several Irish players will be hoping to do this evening -- got stuck into a few All Blacks.
The Wellington star injured his shoulder and ribs during New Zealand's defeat against Australia in Hong Kong at the end of last month. However, he proved his fitness by taking on some of the biggest hitters his team have to offer and coming through unscathed.
On the receiving end were winger Joe Rokocoko and powerhouse centre Sonny Bill Williams and, although Jane was risking furthering the injury if it hadn't fully healed, he was in no doubt that it was the right course of action.
"I tried to tackle Roks, he's 100-plus (kilograms), and then did a couple on Sonny as well. I made sure I picked out some big boys," said Jane, who has been recalled in place of Isaia Toeava for the Ireland clash. "They were trying to say cruise into it, but I wanted to test it out," he said.
