It's hats off all round after Birdhill rescue
NICE to know that even in post- Celtic Tiger days, some selflessness still exists among us Irish.
On Sunday morning, two impossibly well-dressed and well-mannered Irish rugby writers on their way to the Munster-Ospreys match in Limerick, suddenly found themselves on the side of the road slowly imitating the head gasket explosion that had suddenly stalled their vehicle.
Mercifully, your hapless heroes were rescued outside Birdhill by a heroine from the 'Irish Times', Kathy Sheridan, who insisted on abandoning her car -- not to mention a mountain of roast beef sambos -- in order to remain with our juddering jalopy.
While we made the match on time, Billy Stickland, of 'Inpho' fame, ensured that the hard-working scribblers made their return journey. Hats off all around!
