Irish rugby player recalls horror tackle that almost left him without a penis

An Irish rugby league player has spoken of a horror injury that almost ripped his penis from his body.

Haydn Peacock (23), who has played for the Irish rugby league team three times, was in action for his club AS Carcassonne in France last month when a tackle left him writhing in agony and needing 11 stitches to repair the damage to his penis, which partly came away from his body.

Australian-born Peacock revealed the moment an opposition player grabbed a hold of his crotch area and tackled him to the ground. Remarkably, Peacock played on until half-time before assessing the wound and immediately calling for a doctor.

"At half-time I was like, I’ve got to have a look, I checked on it and the skin was half ripped off and I was like, s***, where’s the doctor? Where’s the doctor?" Peacock told freelance journalist Guy Williams.

"The opposition player made a tackle by reaching out and grabbing my d***, he got a hold of my d*** with one hand and pulled me down.

"The coach wanted me to go out and buy a cup but I’m not going to play with a cup. I wouldn’t of been able to run."

Peacock took to Instagram to add: "Not the best reason to be on the front page of the paper this morning. #rugbyleague is definitely not a sport I recommend. 11 stitches later for the little fella but she'll be right."
