Another example of just how dangerous rugby can be sometimes.

Wales flanker Justin Tipuric was forced to miss his country's three test summer tour to New Zealand after suffering a particularly bad concussion during a Six Nations game against Italy.

The rangy flanker - who exploded onto the scene with a memorable performance against England when winning the 2013 Six Nations title - fell from a lineout against the Italians and suffered particularly grim side effects thereafter.

Writing in his column in the rugby paper, Welsh legend Shane Williams revealed just how severe Tipuric's symptoms were.

"He said he briefly lost his sight at the hospital, which is just frightening," wrote Williams.

The shocking revelation by Williams highlights just how dangerous the concussion problem is in rugby but thankfully, Tipuric has been cleared to return to the sport next season.

Hopefully the 2013 Lion feature no ill-effects as he returns to pre-season training with the Ospreys.
