Rugby legends hail a 'friendly rivalry on pitch'
Legendary Irish rugby out-halves Tony Ward and Ollie Campbell have admitted they spurred each other on in the battle for the number 10 jersey - after they were honoured at an event in Dublin.
The duo were honoured by the Association of Sports Journalists in Ireland (ASJI).
Irish Independent columnist Ward said they became close friends through their battles.
He said that in the weeks before a big Munster-Leinster match, he would try build up the anger to battle it out with Campbell for the Ireland shirt, but to no avail.
"He'd come over to me before the game, tap me on the leg and say 'good luck today' and immediately I'd melt," recalled Ward.
