Ireland are hopeful Cian Healy will be able to feature in the World Cup warm-ups after his successful neck operation.

The Leinster loosehead underwent surgery on a disc problem last Friday and is said to already be showing signs of progress as the Lion begins his race to be fit in time for the pre-tournament games.

"The operation went well," Leinster and Ireland assistant Richie Murphy said.

"He's had some pain relief already and they're really happy with that. The process would suggest that he will be fit for the World Cup. He should play some part in those (warm-up) games as well. It depends, once he starts rehab, we will get a better idea."

Meanwhile, Ulster's Iain Henderson will learn if he will have any part to play in the rest of the season tomorrow as he is called before a disciplinary panel in Wales after receiving a red card against Munster on Saturday.
