'Independent' teams up with Leinster Rugby
THE Irish Independent is now the official media partner to Leinster Rugby.
Starting this Friday, a new eight-page supplement will be included in every copy of the Irish Independent sold in the Leinster region.
It will give fans a chance to get up to speed on all the on-pitch action and off-field preparations for the boys in blue throughout their season.
Michael Dawson, CEO of Leinster Rugby, said the partnership would provide an opportunity to showcase rugby in Leinster, particularly at a local level.
"This is a very important step for us in Leinster Rugby and we are delighted to have reached an agreement with Ireland's leading daily title, the Irish Independent," Mr Dawson said.
"In very simple terms, the readership that this agreement provides is without equal and it allows us to reach far more Leinster Rugby fans.
"The supplement will still have all the features that our fans look out for on a Friday but it will now allow us to focus even more on the club game and the superb work being done at grassroots across all 12 counties. I am excited by the prospect and the possibilities for the supplement that this agreement affords us."
Irish Independent editor Claire Grady said the Independent's role as media partners of Leinster Rugby was "a fitting extension of this newspaper's" involvement in the sport.
"It will allow us bring our readers – and Leinster rugby fans – right into the heart of the provincial game. Readers can look forward to getting the inside track through player diaries, exclusive interviews and unrivalled coverage of the game at all levels."
The weekly pull-out will feature all the latest information and updates on the top European club, including stories and analysis on what's happening at grassroots level and with schoolboy teams.
Readers will get unique insights into squad progress and news, coaching staff observations and the perceptions of former Leinster stars.
As the official newspaper of Leinster Rugby, the current professional players will also have their say in the pages.
There will be weekly diaries from our new columnists Shane Jennings, Mike Ross and Fergus McFadden.
Fans can look forward to ticket promotions and competitions, reader experiences and expert commentary on games at all levels.
