Ian Madigan commemorated the 1916 Rising with these custom rugby boots
Here stands a proud Irishman.
With the 1916 centenary celebrations just a short while away, the patriotic people among us may choose to pay tribute to the people who gave up their lives for Irish freedom in their own special way.
Leinster and Ireland out-half Ian Madigan - who famously shed tears of joy after steering Ireland to a big World Cup pool stage win over France - opted for a new set of boots before last weekend's Pro 12 win over the Ospreys.
The neon green boots had '1916' embroidered on the side and in a strange coincidence, that was the final score as Madigan helped Leinster to a crucial league victory.
It will be interesting if any other players follow Madigan's lead, especially as Ireland have two home Six Nations ties in the next fortnight to close out their campaign.
