There will be an all-Cork semi-final in the Munster Schools Junior Cup after PBC pulled away from Glenstal in the second half at the Mardyke yesterday.

It was 3-3 at half-time, but Pres scored three tries in the second period to secure a comfortable victory.

The draw for the last four was made immediately afterwards, with PBC drawn against CBC, who beat Ardscoil Ris on Tuesday. Two Limerick schools, Castletroy College and Crescent College Comprehensive, will play in the other last-four tie.

Glenstal exerted the early pressure, with out-half Andrew Hogan kicking them ahead with a seventh-minute penalty after missing an earlier effort. It would prove to be their only score.

Pres got off the mark through a James Broderick penalty but the rest of the half was incident-free, bar a yellow card to Pres full-back Sean French after a scuffle.

The second half was only three minutes old when French and flanker Cian Fitzgerald combined to set up winger Ross Howell for a try. Although Broderick missed the conversion, he added a penalty soon after.

French made it 16-3 midway through the second half following good work by Broderick and the conversion put 15 points in it. In injury-time, replacement Darragh O’Callaghan completed the scoring.
