Hooker Servat to hang up boots

Thursday February 16 2012

FRANCE hooker William Servat looks set to retire at the end of this season after announcing that he will coach the Toulouse forwards next season.

Current forwards coach Yannick Bru is due to take over the national team's forwards at the end of this campaign and Servat -- whose current playing contract runs until 2013 -- has indicated that he will replace him.

Servat was attracting interest from fellow Top 14 side Toulon, but it appears likely that he has opted to call time on an illustrious playing career that included 45 France caps.

He has won three French titles and three Heineken Cups for Toulouse.

Jones returns after long road to recovery

FELIX JONES is back in the Munster squad as his injury nightmare comes closer to ending.

Jones, who has been out for almost seven months, joins Mike Sherry and Tommy O'Donnell in the panel of 28 for the trip to Treviso on Saturday.

Ronan O'Gara, Donnacha Ryan and Peter O'Mahony could also feature after being named on Ireland's bench for last Saturday's cancelled Six Nations fixture with France.

Jones returned to playing for Shannon last weekend, while O'Donnell has been out since December and Sherry has not played for Munster since October.

Keith Earls had been released to play, but he'll remain in Limerick to be with his partner and baby girl.

Tandy takes the reins at Ospreys

THE OSPREYS have appointed former player Steve Tandy as their new coach after a day of major change at the Liberty Stadium.

Co-coaches Scott Johnson and Sean Holley left the club with immediate effect, before Tandy was named as their replacement. He will be assisted by forwards coach Jonathan Thomas.

The 32-year-old played 102 times for the region before retiring to become a coach. He took charge of the first team in this season's Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Robshaw to stay on as England captain

Chris Robshaw will captain England for the remainder of the Six Nations tournament, caretaker coach Stuart Lancaster said yesterday.

"Chris has stepped into the role well," he said. "He is one of many leaders we could have chosen against Scotland and Italy, but he has shown on and off the field the qualities required to captain a side and will lead England for the rest of the Six Nations."
