Heineken Cup - Pool 1 wrap

Talking point

Ospreys' win over Castres, their first of the pool, softened the blow of Leinster losing at home to Northampton. Saints' win at the Aviva Stadium saw them climb above Castres into second place but Leinster remain in control of the pool, holding a four-point lead.

Castres' defeat on Friday could well curtail the Top 14 champions' European interests. Leinster travel to Stade Pierre-Antoine in the next round when they may face a weakened Castres side whose focus is likely to be on domestic matters.

Leinster lose focus

After last week's humiliation, the expected Northampton backlash came, but few would have predicted them beating Leinster seven days later and also denying them a losing bonus point.

The late withdrawal of Sean O'Brien disrupted a Leinster side who could be left to rue Saturday's result as they look for a home quarter-final berth.

Numbers game

40,985The stark contrast between the crowds in Pool 1 as the Aviva Stadium had almost eight times the attendance of the Liberty Stadium.
