MIKE ROSS goes in search of much-needed game time this week after he was one of four props named in Leinster's squad for Thursday's Magners League clash with Glasgow at the RDS (7.30).

With props of the quality of South African CJ van der Linde and Cook Islander Stan Wright in Leinster's squad, Irish international Ross has largely been used as a substitute, thwarting his ambitions of furthering his Ireland career.

With such front-row options, Leinster's scrummaging has been hugely impressive this season, and was a cornerstone of their victory away to Cardiff Blues last time out.

They will be tested on Thursday by a streetwise Warriors unit that includes the hugely promising Jon Welsh on the loose-head side.

Powerful

Ronnie McCormack is the fourth prop named in a powerful 25-man squad that includes Malcolm O'Kelly, Girvan Dempsey and Shane Horgan and will be captained by Bernard Jackman.

Leinster are top of the table with a game in hand over fourth-placed Glasgow and defence coach Kurt McQuilkin has been impressed with the Warriors this season.

"Glasgow have improved. They're a club with ambitions of winning the Magners League," McQuilkin said. Tickets are still available and all tickets issued for the original fixture date of January 8 are valid.

Connacht scrum-half Frank Murphy has been ruled out of his side's Magners League clash with Newport Gwent Dragons tomorrow evening (6.30) with a hamstring injury. Hooker Sean Cronin will be unavailable as he remains on international duty after making his Six Nations debut on Saturday.

Munster also named their squad for Thursday's Magners League clash with the Scarlets yesterday.
