Ronan to get Munster nod

Hugh Farrelly

NIALL RONAN could be in line to start ahead of David Wallace when Munster face Leinster in Saturday's sold-out Magners League clash at the Aviva Stadium.

Reports yesterday indicated that the 63-times capped flanker will be used off the bench against Leinster, with Ronan forming a powerful back-row alongside Alan Quinlan and stand-in captain Denis Leamy.

Wallace played his first match of the season in last week's impressive 43-29 victory away to Glasgow after recovering from a back injury, but Keith Earls is set to miss out on the match squad as his rehabilitation from an ankle injury continues. That could mean Sam Tuitupou and Lifeimi Mafi forming an all-Kiwi centre partnership with Doug Howlett and Johne Murphy on the wings and Paul Warwick at full-back.

Ronan O'Gara and Tomas O'Leary should form a Grand Slam-winning half-back combination with Wian Du Preez, Damien Varley and Tony Buckley packing down ahead of second rows Donnacha Ryan and Donncha O'Callaghan. Munster are due to announce their line-up today or tomorrow.

MUNSTER (possible) -- P Warwick; D Howlett, L Mafi, S Tuitupou, J Murphy; R O'Gara, T O'Leary; W du Preez, D Varley, T Buckley; D O'Callaghan, D Ryan; A Quinlan, N Ronan, D Leamy (capt).
