James Coughlan is also in sick bay after being forced to come off during the Heineken Cup defeat by Ospreys with a cracked cheekbone. Both players are expected to miss Munster's must-win showdown with Toulon.

McGahan can still call on the likes of Niall Ronan, David Wallace and Denis Leamy, but can ill-afford another injury in that department in the New Year's Day Magners League clash with Ulster.
