Connacht fell to their second successive pre-season defeat when they were beaten by Wasps at Adams Park on Saturday.
Pat Lam's new-look Western province followed up the loss to Clermont Auvergne earlier this month with a 10-point defeat to the Premiership side.
Connacht trailed 7-6 at half-time. Scrum-half Ian Porter kicked two penalties while Ashley Johnson scored the first of his two tries of the afternoon which Ruaridh Jackson converted.
Wasps upped the intensity after the restart and began to pull away from Connacht. Johnson went over in the corner from a catch and drive and veteran Andy Goode who had come off the bench added the extras.
Man of the match James Gaskell sealed the victory with his first try for his new club. Goode was again on hand to convert.
To their credit, Connacht never gave in and when Eoin McKeon forced himself over the line following a lineout, it gave them hope of springing what would have been an unlikely comeback.
Wasps hit back again though as Tom Varndell crossed for a well-worked fourth try with Goode converting.
Danie Poolman showed great pace to streak clear for a consolation try that Darragh Leader converted.
