Gaffney to remain on
ALAN GAFFNEY'S retention as Ireland backs coach is expected to be confirmed shortly, with the Australian close to agreeing terms with the IRFU to stay on until at least the 2011 World Cup.
However, his consultancy arrangement with Leinster will end at the end of this season before Josef Schmidt of Clermont Auvergne replaces Stade Francais-bound Michael Cheika.
Meanwhile, Leinster are in line for an Ulster double-swoop after second-row Ed O'Donoghue was linked with a move to the Heineken Cup champions following the province's earlier capture of scrum-half Isaac Boss.
Ulster recently signed South African second-row Johann Muller on a two-year deal and O'Donoghue could be freed up for a move south.
Leinster captain Leo Cullen's game time is expected to be curtailed by the RWC 2011 player management programme, while Malcolm O'Kelly is 36 in July and it has not been announced whether the veteran will play next season.
