Age: 41

Playing career: Out-half who won 35 caps for Ireland. Made his debut against Wales in 1993 at the Cardiff Arms Park when he inspired Ireland to a 19-14 win that ended a losing run of 11 matches. Final cap against Romania at the 1999 World Cup. Played with Connacht for 17 seasons and AIL rugby with Galwegians and Lansdowne.

Coaching career: Coached Ireland U-20s to Grand Slam in 2007. Assistant to Michael Bradley at Connacht before being made head coach for this season.
