East Glendalough continue good form
East Glendalough are showing all the signs of a school on the up as they eased past Good Counsel from New Ross 36-3 in the Leinster Schools (Section A) Junior Cup second round at Gorey RFC yesterday. The Wicklow boys are getting better with each week, having qualified out of the Development Junior Cup. Lock Daniel Norse and centre Andrew Doran both grabbed a brace of tries and out-half Shane Farrar notched 16 points.
Elsewhere, Skerries Community College came out on top against St Patrick's Navan (17-10) at The ALSAA grounds. Flankers Dean Harford and Colin Oliver and wing Peter Lacey pierced the Navan defence, while the losers' full-back Graham Nelson scored two tries.
It was even closer in Dundrum, where De La Salle Churchtown beat St Columba's College 10-8. DLS full-back Kevin Burke kicked the winning penalty in the 57th minute, following on from a try by Aaron Hickey, to edge out St Columba's, who had the lead for long periods through William Tidey's try and Emmet Minch's penalty.
