Cronin's fluffed lines drag O'Brien to kerb

THE 'crime' and punishment routine is well established on rugby tours and this Ireland trip to New Zealand is no different.

As well as the dice game brought in during the World Cup, the Irish players have introduced a "get off the bus" punishment on the way back from training sessions.

Donncha O'Callaghan was booted off yesterday for having his naked torso plastered over the front page of 'The Southland Times' after a dip in Queenstown's lake while Sean Cronin was forced to make his own way to the hotel in Christchurch by flagging down Kiwi drivers with the promise of training tops.

The Leinster hooker is in charge of tourist information and was said to have "had a shocker" in Christchurch, falling down on basic information and entertainment value.

The squad employs a 'buddy system' where the offending player's room-mate is turfed out as well.

So it was Sean O'Brien who found himself on the side of the road also following Cronin's poor performance.

Apparently, the last thing the players heard as the bus pulled away was O'Brien loudly berating his team-mate for not doing his homework.
