As reported in the Irish Independent on February 17, Connacht had been pursuing the former Ireland U-20 tight-head as a replacement for Jamie Hagan, who is returning to Leinster, his native province.

The 6'5", 20st 7lb tight-head prop joined Leinster two years ago and has made 11 appearances for the province's 'A' side, including seven in the British and Irish Cup. Maguire was also a member of the Ireland side that played in last year's U-20 World Cup in Argentina. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Leinster," said the Bristol-born 21-year-old.

"However, I feel that I now need exposure to regular rugby at a higher level, and Connacht's coaching staff convinced me that I can have a big role to play in their match-day squad next season."
