The Future Is Bright: Conán O Donnell (First year academy)
Background: I was born in Sligo and first played rugby with Sligo RFC. I played other sports such as hurling and Gaelic. I also had a go at boxing and athletics, but concentrated on rugby when I was about 16.
Initially, I was a winger but at U-11s I converted to prop forward, as I had put on a 'little' bit of weight one summer. I joined the Connacht sub-academy in 2014 and become part of the academy this season. I have been capped at Schools and Ireland U-20 level.
Favourite Connacht game: That would have to be the Pro12 win over Leinster last season at the Sportsground. They put on a great display and fought hard and became table toppers. The atmosphere and crowd's reaction after the match was incredible.
Most memorable game I have played in: My first international cap against Scotland U-18s. It was a friendly in Coolmine RFC and I had never experienced intensity like it before. Other games that come to mind are the ones that got away, the All-Ireland U-17 final against Navan or the Connacht schools junior league semi-final replay against Sligo Grammar where they scored a controversial try in the last play of the game.
Favourite ground: I have always enjoying playing in Hamilton Park with Sligo or playing Sligo Grammar up the Mall as there is always a fantastic atmosphere with both our schools' students battling it out with chants. But against France in Dubarry Park in the Six Nations this year was awesome.
