It was fantastic to hear the Connacht squad spent a couple of days in Westport together last week.

There's a lot of talk about Connacht performing above the odds and upsetting a lot of really good teams this season. And a lot of that comes down to the great bond that exists within the team and on trips like these.

It's great foresight from the Connacht management, to use this break prior to a big run-in, and to get something productive out of it. The players would have roomed together and that helps the relationships grow, which stands to guys when they need to fight for each other on the pitch.

Connacht are looking for unprecedented success this term, and they will need everything to go their way with one of the smallest squads in the Pro12. They're certainly doing everything right off the field.

Since Pat Lam came in he has always stressed the importance of culture around the province. He wanted to see all of the counties involved, and every fan in the province to feel like they were apart of things. To go out and visit Westport will only boost the sentiments of goodwill around Connacht.
