The Pirates have been in fine form, and pulled off a huge 30-25 win away to second-placed Ballymena last weekend.

Backed by a number of Connacht underage stars, the Athlone men have picked it up again after Christmas, but despite that victory they slipped to fifth in the standings, behind Old Wesley.

Galwegians still have their survival fate in their own hands, but they need to start winning again, ahead of a treacherous clash away at leaders UCD this weekend.

The students lost to reigning champions Lansdowne last weekend, but that was just their third defeat of the campaign and they will want to bounce back straight away.

Meanwhile, Galwegians lost 17-5 at home to Clontarf and are just three points ahead of Ballynahinch, who are bottom. The northerners won last time out.

In Division 2A Corinthians are under big pressure to bag a win at home to Nenagh Ormond. Last weekend's 21-0 hammering at Skerries means they are four points adrift at the foot of the table.

Sligo, who are bottom of Division 2C, host Wanderers tomorrow.
