Kevin (32), from Mulranny, Co Mayo, died after a road crash in Brisbane last Friday.

A fundraising page was set up on gofundme.com, with $50,040 of the $150k target already raised after just one day.

Mr Moran was well-known within the sporting scene in Mayo and was highly regarded both on and off the pitch.

A keen rugby player, he played at under-age level for Connacht and was also a key player for the Westport Bulls.

Mr Moran was also a talented soccer player and an important member of the Achill Rovers side for a number of seasons.
