Connacht will take their show on the road when they host an open training session in Carrick-on-Shannon this morning at 11.00.

The training session kicks off with the Connacht senior side going through their strength and conditioning drills.

It will then be open to children who will join the players on the pitch, with the Connacht senior coaching staff providing instruction.

Coach Pat Lam has often spoken about the culture around Connacht Rugby and what they are trying to build by visiting the different communities around the province.

This open training session is their fifth in the last year and follows successful outings in Buccaneers RFC, Creggs RFC and Ballinrobe during pre-season.

Entry is free for children and accompanying adults and there will also be an opportunity to get autographs and take pictures, while there will be a talk from the coaches and members of the squad.

"We're really looking forward to travelling to Carrick-on-Shannon," said Lam.

"I visited the rugby club last year and was really impressed with the work that was being done.

"I promised that I would return with the full squad and delighted to be in a position to do that now.

"Our open training sessions are always a great day out and I know the lads are really looking forward to making the trip to meet and talk with the kids and their families," he added.
