Claire Murphy is from Monaghan and has a background in multimedia. She worked for BetBright in Dublin previously before moving to Galway this year to take up a new role with Connacht Rugby.
When did you join Connacht?
I joined Connacht in late March of this year so I'm a very new addition.
What do you do?
Having just started in the role, the plan is to utilise the behind-the-scenes content we have available to give the fans a greater insight into the club and the players. I will be taking any opportunities to grab footage, photos and content of interest to the fans to share on social media.
What's a typical day like?
Daily, I have graphic design tasks to complete, to capture behind-the-scenes moments and to start looking ahead at content opportunities for next season. On match-day, I will be capturing the atmosphere around the Sportsground or an away stadium, catching up with the fans pre-match and keeping fans at home informed with the latest team news.
What is the best part of your job?
I think being involved in the lead-up to games and match-days themselves are definitely the best parts. I am really looking forward to next season already and being involved from the beginning.
Most memorable match?
The Connacht v Ulster game was my first game at the Sportsground. The atmosphere here is something else. I have never heard anything like the noise of the fans from the Clan Stand and can see why it's known as a formidable stadium for other teams to visit.
For me, it was really exciting to be involved in the first home game since I began working here.
