Educated at Otago University, Andre has a degree in Education and a Diploma of Teaching. He played 43 games for Otago from 1990 - 92.
When did you join Connacht?
July 2014. It was my first time in Ireland. I have been very impressed with the hospitality and friendliness of the people here.
What do you do?
I look at our backline attack from set-piece and how they organise themselves from phase play. I work with our goal kickers to try and improve individual techniques and help other with general-play kicking.
What's a typical day like?
It will vary depending on when we play. In general the busiest part is earlier in the week. It will consist of reviewing the game we just played, giving feedback to individuals and planning what we need to work on going forward, looking ahead to the next game. In between that we will meet every day as a management to re/preview the day. I also try to fit in daily exercise, which I think is very important for the mind.
What is the best part of your job?
The most rewarding part is seeing players develop individually and collectively implement and execute plays you have trained throughout the week.
